Principles and concept of mental health nursing are discussed including personality development, its types, etiology, bio-psychosocial factors, psychopathology, limbic system, practice standards, utilization of the different types of models and role of Mental Health Psychiatric nurses are also described. Mental health assessment with detailed MSE and MMSE, neurological examination, blood investigation and psychological tests is included in the text. Therapeutic communication, treatment modalities including alternative and complementary therapies are detailed; nursing management aspects using nursing processes and nursing care plans are developed for guidance in practice, to enable the nurses give better client-oriented evidence-based care.
